Motherland
Dear beloved Motherland!
You are always in our hearts,
We think of you wherever we are
In our everyday lives,
We pray for you and our loved ones,
The ones we left behind.
Motherland, we owe you our life!
Once we drank your water
And ate the food you provided
We played in your fields,
Bathed in your rivers,
And sheltered under your trees,
We miss your gentle quiet beauty,
Your misty mountains and cool clean air;
You nurtured and cared for us until
We were strong enough to fly away.
Seukmarn are burning you
And destroying you,
Because of their hatred of us,
Your children.
Now your lungs are bleeding,
And although we are in a foreign land,
We can hear you calling;
We long to be with you,
To help you
And to save you from the hell
They created.
Mother, do not despair!
In no way will we forget
Our sacred pledge to you!
One day when the time is right,
Your children will return to you,
And even though we left you,
Our hearts will always be true.
We are working very hard
And doing everything we can
To free you from all your troubles,
The suffering and pain.
Don’t give up on us, dear Mother,
Your sons and daughters are uniting,
We are rebuilding a new future for you
And together we will create a nation
Of love, peace and prosperity!
